Hello and I am still here...

Just a quick note to say hello and I am still here… just been highly focused on guiding and the fly shop. We’ve been working towards launching a new site, which is why I have neglected to post or update this one much in the past year. Despite my lack of presence on the blog I am still guiding hard and all of us are working our asses off to make Bend Fly Shop happen.

This past summer we recruited Dave Hess to come work with us at the shop. Dave is an animal angler and has huge experience in fly shops back East where he is from. Dave is a steelhead junkie though and the prospect of living on the West Coast proved irresistible. He wrote the book on customer service and has uncanny expertise in many aspects of fly fishing from technical trout to big game saltwater and all things spey. We are very lucky and happy to have him on the team.

We’ve also been fortunate to have Matt Sherman join our guide team last season. Cut from the same cloth as the rest of us guides, Matt has a ton of guiding experience and really positions anglers for success. He can be a patient instructor or a hard charging fish hunter and, regardless of your needs, is just plain fun to be with.

Both on the river and in the shop we are highly selective of who we bring in, and couldn’t be more proud of our small crew.

Bend Fly Shop is growing and we are grateful for the support we’ve had from the fly fishing community. Its been a fun project full of challenges and obstacles. Good thing we enjoy fly fishing so damn much.

In the near future this site, “fishdeschutes.com” and our guide service brand, “River Runner Outfitters” will both point to our new fly shop website, “bendflyshop.com”. Same people. Same outfitter. All under the new Bend Fly Shop brand. If you haven’t joined our new emailing list, jump over to bendflyshop.com and sign up.

Best regards,

Chris
